As October rolls in and we search for the perfect pumpkin, at American Heroes & Brew, we give thanks for our local Growers & Farmers. Without them, our pumpkins, corn, strawberries, flowers, and more would not exist.
More than 6,000 farmers call San Diego County home. They make their living on 6,565 small family farms, 65 percent of which are nine or fewer acres in size.
Farmers contribute $5.1 billion annually to our local economy. Our local farmers are the #1 producer of avocados and nursery crops, and #2 in the number of acres of guavas, pomegranates, limes, and macadamias.
Growers & Farmers are an intrinsic part of the fabric of San Diego County.
